The whole thing of the Redskins was derived from the Sioux indians who before a battle their warriors would actually paint their skin red...It has nothing to do with race and there was an actual poll of american indians that said they weren't offended by the name. Except for people like Ma. Senator Liz "Lieawatha " Warren. Who absolutely shit all over the Indian heritage by claiming she was part cherokee to gain advantage at Harvard U.
